What to Wear for Winter Portraits – Weekly Wardrobe | Edmonton Family photographer

It’s a little bit cold and snowy and blustery out today – a very wintry day – so it seemed like the perfect day to talk about what to wear for winter portraits!

Since it’s going to ideally anywhere from -5 degrees or warmer (especially if you have small children) you don’t necessarily have to plan to wear bulky jackets and toques. Warm, comfy sweaters in neutral tones, paired with leggings or a cute skirt & a pair of great boots always look amazing in photographs. Really the rules don’t change all that much: keep your clothing in the same tonal range, add some texture and layers, like a fun scarf, or a blanket to wrap everybody up in for a cute, cuddly touch.

Dress in layers & even if the day is mild, make sure that you also have mitts and warm jackets to slip on in between photographs.

What to Wear for Winter PortraitsWinter sessions offer the advantage of a neutral background and often spectacular light!
